Official Proclamation, city of Aberdeen, S.D., for Public Schools Week, Feb. 24-26, 2025: WHEREAS, public schools serve as the foundation of our nation's education system, providing every child with access to a high-quality education regardless of background, abilities, or socioeconomic status; and WHEREAS; dedicated teachers, administrators, school staff, and school board members work tirelessly to educate and support students, helping them achieve their full potential and preparing them to become informed citizens, lifelong learners, and contributors to society; and WHEREAS, public schools play a vital role in creating environments where students can learn, grow, and thrive together; and WHEREAS, strong public schools are essential for the economic, social, and cultural well being of our communities, providing students with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in an ever-changing world; and WHEREAS, Public Schools Week offers an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of our public schools and recognize the critical role they play in shaping the future of our communities, states, and nation; and NOW, THEREFORE, I, Travis Schaunaman, Mayor of Aberdeen, South Dakota do hereby proclaim February 24-28, 2025, as Public Schools Week, and call upon all citizens to join in celebrating the vital contributions of our public schools, honoring the educators, staff, and volunteers who make them exceptional, and recommitting to the support and strengthening of public education for all students.

Congratulations to CHS Oral Interp students Coen Vogel and Faith Waldner, who both qualified for Nationals! Coen won 1st Place in POI at a Friday tournament in Sioux Falls, and Faith won 2nd Place in Drama! Coen also won 3rd place in Humor (and alternate for Nationals). Bryson Hanson won 4th place in Humor, Taylor Tullar won 5th place in Drama, Hayden Magee won 6th place in Drama, and Tucker Reyelts and Hale Haugen won 5th place in Duo.
