ABERDEEN, S.D. – On Friday, Holgate Middle School seventh-grade language arts students gathered in the theater for the annual Golden Eagle Awards.
Nine student finalists, taught by Mrs. Mia Fries and Mrs. Carolyn Geyer, presented famous people who have made a positive difference in the world and whom they believe deserved to win the award. Their goal was to persuade the audience, and the competition was judged by eighth graders who won last year.
This year’s winner was Kamryn Stoddard, who gave a presentation on Adam Sandler.
Along with Stoddard, the other student finalists presenting on Friday were: Ashlee Bindenagel, Ava Schwan, Madilynn Davis, Bennett Brenner, Jackson Raymond, Eliza Hamiel, Avyn Waldo and Malaya Tipton.
Students whose essays received second place were: Ziah Zerr, Jin Soe, Jack Baird, Abby Frank, Aby Rychlik, Scarlette Crawford and Alainna Flanigan.
Students whose essays received third place were: Jack Spah, Maxton Hager, Wyatt Huff, Parker Stuchl, Erel Valdez, Peyton Schwartz and Gracelyn Heiman.
Congratulations, and great job, students!
