This Thanksgiving week, Simmons Middle School students got creative for a good cause!
Tuesday was Create for a Cause Day at Simmons, where students worked on a variety of community service projects.
Students broke into groups to work on the following projects:
Baking tasty treats to be hand-delivered to hometown heroes at the local fire and police stations.
Picking up trash around the school and partnering with the custodial team to clean classrooms.
Creating cozy, colorful tie blankets to be donated to the cancer center.
Using Canva to create cards as well as designing children’s books to be donated to Head Start and the YDC.
Creating lanyards that will be donated to Operation Gratitude and sent to U.S. military members overseas.
Assembling Eagle Welcome Kits for new students.
Making bracelets filled with positivity and encouragement to show appreciation to our nurses.
Designing coasters with uplifting messages and crafting adorable holiday-themed décor to brighten up local nursing homes.
Sewing colorful felt marble fidget mazes to be donated to local elementary schools.
Creating a personalized worry stone, to be donated to hospital patients.
Working with kids at an elementary school—reading a story, diving into a project or helping around the school.
Working with a member from the Aberdeen Area Foster Closet to assemble 48-hour kits for children in need.
