ABERDEEN, S.D. – On Sunday, May 19, 274 students will graduate from Aberdeen Central High School.
The ceremony will begin at 2 p.m. in the CHS Golden Eagles Arena. Doors open at noon. This year’s valedictorian is Rylan Johnson, and the salutatorian is Kiana Joerger.
Among this year’s graduates, there are:
· 73 Regent Scholars
· 49 South Dakota Opportunity Scholarship recipients
· 45 President’s Education Award recipients
· 45 National Honor Society graduates
· 7 Build Dakota Scholarship recipients
· 6 Graduates joining the military
Central seniors who are going into the Armed Forces were honored at the NSU Cording Ceremony, held May 1 at Northern State University. The students who were recognized at this event were: Ko Naing, Nycholas Kaufman, Ryan Fiechtner, Braidan Lynn, Roy Ventura Ortley and Brenden Stapp.
Also prior to graduation day, Central’s Native American graduating seniors will be honored at a ceremony at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 11, at the CHS T.F. Kelly Theatre. Native American eighth graders will also be honored at a ceremony at 6 p.m. Friday, May 10.
Also on Friday, May 10, at 1:30 p.m., CHS will hold a Teacher Signing Day event for graduating seniors who are going into teaching. The students who will be recognized at this event are: Alexis Ketterling, Jett Carlson, Taylor Lyke, David Van Veen, Alexandria Bonen, Dakota Sheets and Liv Douglas.
