Award winner Kathy Andersen

ABERDEEN, S.D. – Kathy Andersen is the winner of the 2023 Aberdeen Education Association Educator Plus Award.

 

Andersen received the AEA award on Tuesday during a welcome back event held at Central High School.

 

Andersen, a longtime Aberdeen Public Schools educator, is now a volunteer and substitute teacher in the district.

 

The Educator Plus Award started in 1991 to recognize retired teachers who stayed active in the community and with children. It is a staff-nominated award, with the winner selected by a committee of former AEA members.


The Aberdeen Education Association (AEA) is the local chapter of the South Dakota Education Association (SDEA), an organization that supports public education professionals throughout the state.
