Bryson Hanson with Emily Johnson of Northern Electric

ABERDEEN, S.D. – Aberdeen Central High School senior Bryson Hanson has been named a 2024 Touchstone Energy Scholar of the Week.

Hanson will receive a $250 scholarship through the Touchstone Energy Scholar Program, which is a partnership of South Dakota’s Touchstone Energy Cooperatives and Dakota News Now.

The program recognizes South Dakota seniors, nominated by their schools, who excel in the classroom and community. Hanson, who was nominated by CHS Counselor Rylie Stadel, is the first Central student to be named a Touchstone Energy Scholar since alum Abiah George received the honor in 2022.

Hanson was featured this week on a Dakota News Now broadcast, found here. He and Central Orchestra Teacher Joe Berns were interviewed at CHS on Nov. 12. That same day, a Northern Electric representative presented Hanson with a ceremonial check in honor of his scholarship.

At Central, Hanson is involved in and has received awards from numerous organizations, including CHS Show Choir, Theatre, Orchestra, National Honor Society, and Speech and Debate. Following graduation, he plans to serve on a two-year mission and then study mechanical engineering at Brigham Young University in Utah.
