Lincoln Elementary School Lincoln Elementary School

Lisa McNeelyIt is with great pleasure that I welcome you to Lincoln Elementary. Our school is filled with 75 dedicated, hard-working, kind, compassionate, and friendly staff members who are devoted to providing a rich and rewarding academic experience for the children in this area of Aberdeen.

We are a school wide Title I school, which allows us to address the learning needs of all children in our school. A portion of our Title I funding is used to offer events that allow parents to participate in a learning experience similar to what their children experience while in school. We host a Parent University event and a parent math night annually.

Each year we set academic goals for our students through our School Improvement process. Our staff members review test results, attendance records, grades, surveys, demographic data, and additional data to develop an action plan that will allow our students to grow as learners and meet the goals that have been developed.
Lincoln elementary proudly and diligently serves about 420 students grades K-5. An additional 150 general and special education students are enrolled and served in our preschool program. Lincoln is the only elementary building in the Aberdeen School district to house the preschool program, and we continually address the needs and support the growth of qualifying preschoolers in the Aberdeen community.

We take pride in having established a child and family-centered learning community within our building. We are fortunate to have a full time nurse on staff, a school counselor, and some specialists and therapists as well. Our PTA has a strong presence within our school, providing support daily for our students and staff members. The Lincoln PTA participates in fundraisers during the school year to support the following projects:  playground improvements and equipment, library books, student incentives and awards, teacher stipends for classroom needs, field trips, and other needs.

Our mission and purpose—helping children to grow and excel academically and socially into productive citizens and life-long learners—drives the instruction and plan for each and every student. While academics are the primary focus of our staff members, we also recognize that students excel in a variety of ways as citizens, so we strive to recognize student growth as both learners and citizens.  We acknowledge student accomplishments through our Lincoln Lights program, monthly classroom awards, library reading clubs, conflict manager program, and the Fuel Up to Play 60 program.

A welcoming and safe building is important to us, therefore, we continually work to improve our school building and grounds. Windows were replaced in the north part of the building in the summer of 2015, and a new piece of playground equipment was also installed. Planned improvements for 2016 include new windows in the south part of the building, and landscaping the area outside the main entrance.

I invite you to visit Lincoln Elementary.  While here, you will see a strong culture for learning, devoted staff members, engaged students, and you will sense a climate where all are welcomed and appreciated.
